By train to the sea

Besides the Coastal Tram, trains offer a fast and efficient way to reach the Belgian coast from other parts of the country. Major coastal cities such as Ostend, Blankenberge, and Knokke-Heist have direct train connections to major Belgian cities such as Brussels, Ghent, and Antwerp.

Stations and Services

The SNCB (National Railway Company of Belgium) manages train traffic in Belgium. During the summer period and at peak times, SNCB increases the number of trains to the coast to cope with increased demand.

The following coastal municipalities have a station:

  • De Panne station
  • Koksijde station
  • Ostend station
  • Blankenberge station
  • Zeebrugge-Village station
  • Zeebrugge Beach Station
  • Knokke-Heist station

Tickets and fares

Tickets can be bought in advance via the SNCB website, mobile app, or at ticket offices and vending machines in the stations. Promotions and discounts are often available, such as the Weekend Ticket for weekend travel with 50% discount, or special summer offers.
